Child Phase I Interceptive (Age 6-10)
When some baby teeth are still present, we can begin to correct problems like severe overbites, underbites, and crossbites. Facial growth modification can be very effective at this age for some patients.
Child Phase II Interceptive (Age 12-13)
Phase II treatment usually occurs a number of years later. We usually wait for 12-16 additional permanent teeth to erupt before Phase II begins. The goal is to achieve an ideal bite and an amazing smile with all of the permanent teeth.
The Damon® System
Here at our office, we can proudly say that we are the only certified Damon Educators in metropolitan Detroit. This braces system is a revolutionary take on traditional braces, fully harnessing their effectiveness while making the process quicker, easier, and more attractive.
Incredible Results in Minimal Time
The Damon System offers speedy treatment without compromising the quality of the end result. While each patient’s experience will be as unique as their smile, you may be able to complete your treatment with Damon months sooner than you would with other systems.
Simple, Yet Effective
Traditional braces have more parts than the Damon System, which means more time in the office, more adjustments to make, and more chances that things will slip out of place from time to time. Damon Braces are simplified in their design, yet they remain precise and effective in their treatment.
Simple, Yet Effective
While we always enjoy catching up with our patients, the Damon System requires fewer adjustments. Fewer adjustments means fewer visits to our office. And that means more free-time and freedom for you.
Fewer pieces means that there is less friction caused by the appliance. It also means that the appliance is easy to keep clean, which will help you feel better about your treatment.
The most advanced technology
We are amongst the most experienced Insignia doctors in the world and Dr. Reynolds travels across the country and world teaching other doctors about high-tech orthodontics.
Like a fingerprint, your smile is unique—and so is Insignia Custom Smile Design, a computerized system that combines digital treatment planning with custom brackets and wires tailored to your specific dental anatomy.
The process is simple and no impressions are needed. Using the Lythos impressionless scanner, we make a digital model of your teeth for the Insignia smile design lab. Sophisticated imaging software then creates a digital representation of your bite, while braces and wires are custom-fabricated for you.
Insignia braces are customized Damon brackets, so they don’t need elastic ties. The customization is delivered with the help of state-of-the-art computer modeling and robotic technologies.
Fast and comfortable treatment
Insignia treatment is tailored to the individual with each aspect precisely calculated to affect tooth movement in the most optimal way. This means fewer office visits and exceptional comfort throughout treatment. And because treatment is personalized, our doctors often see a reduction in the amount of time their Insignia patients would ordinarily be in braces.
This treatment option is ideal for most cases and patients, whether it’s an adult with a hectic schedule, or a teen who wants to be in and out of braces as quickly as possible.
Precise, Predictable Results
Utilizing Insignia’s proprietary 3-D software, we can show you your end result before you even start treatment! You’re able to view, with precision accuracy, the curvature and width of the best smile specifically proportioned to your facial features. Unlike off-the-shelf braces and wires, a treatment plan developed with Insignia creates a layer of meticulous detail that provides fast, accurate, and predictable results.

The Facts About Invisalign
- 3-D imaging technology maps your mouth.
- This mapping is used to create the custom aligners.
- These aligners are fitted to your teeth and clear, making them invisible to others.
- You switch to the next aligner in the series every two weeks.
- Each aligner in the series moves your teeth slightly further, using consistent and gentle pressure.
- No impressions: we use state-of-the-art 3D digital scanners to make yucky dental molds a thing of the past.
- You change our the aligners yourself, and can remove them for eating and dental care, so we only see you every six weeks.
What Makes Invisalign so Appealing?
The number one reason people request Invisalign treatment is that no one knows you are straightening your teeth unless you tell them. However, there are more reasons to choose Invisalign than just the stealthy treatment. Some other things our patients love about Invisalign treatment include:
- They need to visit the office less—no wires means no adjustments.
- The aligners are removable—no need to alter your diet of lifestyle.
- There are no metal elements—the clear plastic is less abrasive to the tissues of the mouth.
Incognito™ braces are hidden behind your teeth, so people will see you, not your braces. They are completely customized, comfortable, and effective. You’ll love your smile – even during your treatment.
Incognito™ braces can be worn by just about anyone. To find out if Incognito™ braces are right for you, consult the doctor.
Surgical orthodontics is a combined treatment by our doctors and an oral surgeon to correct jaw abnormalities. These issues are determined after reviewing the patient’s X-rays and models.
The orthodontist initially levels and aligns the teeth in the jawbone, then the oral surgeon positions the jaws into a more normal position to allow the bite to come together ideally. This procedure results in the improved ability to chew, speak, and breathe, while also delivering tremendous facial aesthetics.
Our doctors embrace the latest in orthodontic technologies to reduce the overall need for this method, however it can still be required in those with improper bites, as well as those with facial aesthetic concerns. All growth must be complete before jaw surgery can be performed (jaw growth is usually complete by 16 years with girls and 18 with boys), however it is very common to begin correcting tooth position while a patient is still growing.
The temporomandibular joint connects the jaw to the skull. Pain in this area is characterized as Temporomandibular Disorder. This joint is similar to many others in the body, and as such, is susceptible to conditions like ankylosis, arthritis, and dislocations.
TMD Symptoms Include:
- Biting/chewing difficulty or discomfort
- Neck and shoulder pain
- Hearing loss
- Headaches/earaches in the morning
- Jaw pain or tenderness
- Reduced ability to open/close the mouth
Should you notice any of these symptoms, please contact our office. We can diagnose and provide you with treatment options.
Sleep apnea is a disorder characterized by abnormal pauses in breathing or instances of abnormally low breathing during sleep. Each lapse in breathing can last ten seconds to multiple minutes, and may occur 5 to 30+ times an hour. This disorder prevents deep sleep that refreshes the body, and sufferers are frequently drowsy during the day.
Types of Sleep Apnea
There are three forms of sleep apnea. The most common is called Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) and represents about 84 percent of cases. It occurs due to a physical block of airflow, commonly resulting in snoring. Though rare, during Central Sleep Apnea (CSA), breathing is interrupted by a lack of respiratory effort. Some people suffer from mixed or complex sleep apnea, which is a combination of OSA and CSA.
Signs of Sleep Apnea
Oftentimes, an individual with sleep apnea is unaware of having difficulty breathing, even after waking up short of breath. Others witnessing the individual during episodes usually reveal the problem.
The following symptoms can indicate the presence of sleep apnea. If you notice one or more of these, we would be happy to refer you to a sleep apnea specialist.
- Daytime fatigue
- Slower reaction time
- Vision problems
- Difficulty paying attention or working effectively
- Insomnia or difficulty sleeping
- Sleep paralysis
- Loud snoring at night
- Waking up at night short of breath
- Snorting or choking sounds during the night
- Headaches in the morning
Sleep apnea treatment commonly begins with behavioral therapy. Patients who begin sleeping on their side often report improvements. Additionally, we are able to fabricate an oral device designed to shift the lower jaw forward to open the airway.
Our doctors specialize in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics, which is the management of tooth movement and guidance of facial growth and development.
There are nine dental specialties sanctioned by the American Dental Association (ADA), and Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics is one of them. After completing dental school, this specialist attends 2-3 years of additional training.
Because we are skilled in both areas, they are able to diagnose any misalignments in the teeth and jaw as well as the facial structure. This allows them to devise a treatment plan that integrates both orthodontic and dentofacial orthopedic treatments.
Bite Turbos: Speeding Treatment
When upper and lower braces are placed, in many instances, the top teeth bite down and contact the lower braces. This may cause the upper teeth to ‘bite off’ the lower braces, and as a result, will cause many extra visits to the office. To prevent this and allow placement of upper and lower braces at the same time, we use small temporary build-ups called “Bite Turbos” on the back side of the front teeth, or “Bite Props” on the biting surface of the rear teeth.
- Usually placed behind the upper front teeth.
- Two Bite Turbos are placed initially. One turbo is sufficient to keep the upper and lower teeth apart. If one Turbo is lost, there is no need for concern. If both Turbos come off, please call to schedule a repair.
- Bite Props are blue in color and are placed on the biting surface of your side or back teeth.
What to Expect:
- Because your bite is being propped open, your back teeth m
ay not fully touch. This is normal and expected. Start with softer foods that are easier to chew and work your way up to more solid foods.
- Remember that using these “props” to separate your teeth ‘unlocks’ your bite from the pressure of opposing teeth allowing them to move easier, faster, and more comfortably.
THIS ALLOWS TREATMENT TO PROCEED AT LEAST 6 MONTHS FASTER!
Although “Bite Props” may be slightly annoying at first, the treatment time saved is well worth it in the end.
A state-of-the-art combination of orthodontic treatments that allows treatment to be completed faster than ever before–most treatments are finished in 8 months are less.
